Piss Poor was conceived and composed in the summer of 2014 after a pretty disastrous show at Dino's Grill. At this show I had the idea to do an extended drone take on "Love Hurts" (the Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris version, not Nazareth's) that would not actually consist of any part of "Love Hurts" beyond the lyrics. While the performance (in my humble opinion) of this concept was successful, the show itself was not and I returned home mulling the idea of disaster while having this extended drone loop running in my head. I decided to come up with my own lyrics to this piece, altered the arrangement and proceeded to perform it around town, improvising on the structure until piece ended up resting upon the basic format presented here.
Recording of this version commenced in the fall of 2014 under the stable hand and attentive ear of Keith Chandler at The Square (Nashville, TN)
Maximum volume yields maximum deafness. Drone not drones.
I’m a brand new convert, and an old one at that….
Sorry to be so late to the party, I’m beside myself in finally making it here. 💖❤️🔥
Thanks. 🙂 Sun. Disappear
